PS note

"Notes on the latest model cars (93 on?):

(can someone please verify this?) It is claimed that the above procedure

doesnt quite work on the most recent model year cars. Instead of waiting

for the lights to go out, you have to disconnect the jumper between 7

and 19 while the ignition is still on.

To reset OIL SERVICE, maintain the connection for approximately 3

seconds.

To reset INSPECTION, maintain the connection for approximately 12

seconds. "

I have tried to reset the oil service on my E36 using a jumper between

points 7 and 19, but the lights do not reset. What is the specific sequence

between turning the key to position 2 to installing the jumper and taking it

off. I have put the key in position 2 then installed the jumper for approx.

4 seconds. Removed the jumper and turned the ignition off. When I turned

the ignition back on, the oil service lights still stayed lit. Is there a

good website with this information?
