service interval indicator (amber as opposed to green bar) or 1 year from
new/last service ... whichever comes first. I`d recommend at least one
change in between. While 16K miles service is getting to be the norm,
there`s a lot of anecdotal evidence (that`s inconvenient evidence if its
contrary to your beliefs) that extended service builds up sludge in
undesirable places. Read C&D`s latest editorials ... extended oil service
is on their radar as well.

Hi folks - the `oil service` indicator is now on my display along with the
amber light. The car`s new to me so I don`t quite understand the service
intervals. Does `oil service` mean that only the oil and filter is changed
and can it be done by a local garage or is it more in-depth than that and
best looked at by BMW?
Thanks
Steve
